Retreat to Gore Bay, Ontario

Gore Bay is located on the North Shore of Manitoulin Island, the world's largest freshwater island. The town sits between two bluffs overlooking the bay. The small town, home to 900 people, welcomes sailing aficionados from Canada and the United States and has its own story as part of the marine history of the Great Lakes. Rekindle Creativity retreat participants will stay on the bay at The Inn at Gore Bay. You can enjoy a beautiful walk into town on the waterfront boardwalk to see the sites and visits local merchants -- like Finnia Chocolate, Dinah's sister's chocolate factory and shop -- or to find refreshment at Loco Beans coffee shop or Split Rail Brewery.

While you're in the area, you may also want to go take a break from writing to explore nearby sights. Gore Bay is within easy driving distance of the town of Kagawong and its jewel, Bridalveil Falls, the hiking trails of Misery Bay Provincial Park and the long, sandy beaches and cold waters of Providence Bay.

Entry onto the Island is an adventure no matter how you arrive, through the swing bridge at Little Current where you can see sailboats and yachts waiting to pass or by the Chi Cheemaun Ferry, which travels between Tobermory and South Baymouth each day.
